Regulatory Responsibility Bill and Taskforce

Page updated 1 Jul 2010

On 30 September 2009 the Regulatory Responsibility Taskforce presented a draft Regulatory Responsibility Bill and an accompanying report to Hon Bill English, Minister of Finance and Hon Rodney Hide, Minister for Regulatory Reform.

Hon Rodney Hide released the Bill and accompanying report on 29 October 2009. The Bill and the report are available here.

The Government established the Regulatory Responsibility Taskforce following a recommendation from the Commerce Committee during the Committee’s consideration of the Regulatory Responsibility Bill, which was introduced into the House in 2007. The Bill is designed to make law making more transparent and law makers more accountable.
