The Budget lock-up for media and economic and financial analysts will be held on Thursday 28 May from 10.30am at the Banquet Hall in Parliament Buildings.
Finance Minister Hon Bill English will attend from 12pm to 12.45pm.
Access to the Banquet Hall will be permitted from 10.00am for those needing to set up equipment.
Documents will be available from 10.30am. Treasury Officials will be available from 10.30am to answer factual questions.
There will be a limited number of places available at the lock-up. Priority will be given to:
- Media with parliamentary press accreditation;
- Economic and financial analysts attached to either:
- Financial institutions e.g. registered banks; or
- National organisations who provide relevant specialist advisory services.
Media will be permitted to leave the lock-up at 1.55pm, and the embargo for Budget material will end at 2pm on the commencement of Hon Bill English’s Budget speech in the House.
Strict RSVP policy this year
Organisations must RSVP by 5pm Wednesday 13 May to advise the names of those who would like to attend the lock-up. Treasury will confirm your acceptance to the lock-up by Friday 15 May.

Compliance with the embargo provisions will be monitored. Any organisation and individual found to break the embargo provisions may be refused permission to attend future media events.
